Explore gardens, a pond, walkways, and watchable wildlife at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center.
Just a 10-minute walk from the Plaza shopping area, the Discovery Center is a unique, hands-on, urban conservation education center located on eight acres in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri.
Native-plant gardens demonstrate urban landscaping options, including small versions of upland and lowland forests, prairies, and wetlands. Specialty planting areas include hummingbird, butterfly, wildflower, and water gardens.
Energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly building that shows how you can save water, energy, and resources at home.
Visitors will also see a butterfly garden, bird feeding garden, and Grow Native demonstrations including prairie wildflowers, wetland, water garden, and manicured upland and lowland forests.
The Discovery Center offers a variety of hands-on learning experiences and workshops. There are also tours of the building and grounds showing environmentally friendly ways to build an urban environment in harmony with nature.
