The Ben Ferrel Platte County Museum is a beautifully-restored historic home open for tours from mid April to mid October. Built in 1882 by Frederick Krause, this home, also known as the Krause mini mansion, is modeled in some of its architectural features after the Missouri Governor's mansion. Purchased by the Platte County Historical Society in 1977, the Krause mini mansion was placed on the National Historic Register in 1978. The museum-home has been fully furnished by donations from local families and to the Victorian period. It includes hundreds of items from local families and a library of local genealogical resources. The museum's collection includes a Civil War, Union soldier's uniform and campbox with contents.
