Goodnow House State Historic Site

Goodnow House tells the story of freestaters who founded Manhattan. Isaac Goodnow and his wife, Ellen, built this unique stone farmhouse. He started the Kansas State Teachers Association and established the college that became Kansas State University.


Inside the house, visitors will see furniture, books, magazines, and photographs connected with the Goodnows and their niece, Harriet Parkerson. Visitors will also see Isaac and Ellen's collected rocks and specimen.


Operated in partnership with the Riley County Historical Museum.
