This S. Kansas Avenue pocket park commemorates the intersection of four unique, nationally significant historic events here on S. Kansas Avenue: the Topeka Constitutional Convention in 1855, dispersal of the Free State Legislature on July 4, 1856, the Underground Railroad on the Jim Lane Trail in 1857, and nearly 100 years later the Federal trial that led to the landmark 1954, Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court decision.
