Visitors today can discover the connections between rivers and topography to the location of a trail and nearby towns. Many modern highways follow the old transportation routes. Scouted by Native Americans and worn into the landscape by horses and wagons, these historic routes provided many paths for today's highways. Freedom's Frontier is home to the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails, the Frontier Military Trail, the Shawnee Cattle Trail, the Lane Trail and many trails in between.
